Top 7 Pallet Packaging Tips

Top 7 Pallet Packaging Tips

Ensuring that the millions of items that are transported every day reach their destination on schedule and in flawless condition requires a lot of labour. However, out of every 100 shipments that arrive, one or two are likely to be damaged, and in some cases, these damages can be readily avoided by using the proper packaging techniques. The experts of the packaging company of Sydney shared the following seven tips which can be helpful while pallet packaging –

Heavy Goods Go First

Keep in mind that the heavier things should go on the bottom layer when packing boxes on a pallet. You can build a solid foundation with a lower centre of gravity by doing this. Additionally, packing the heavier stuff at the bottom makes guarantee that none of the lighter items are crushed.

Pack upto the edge not over it

To ensure optimal stability, position your boxes so that they are as close to the pallet’s edges as you can without tipping them over. Bringing your boxes near the pallet’s edge makes it simpler to secure the items and guarantees that you are utilising the majority of the pallet’s space. Any boxes that hang over the pallet’s edge are more likely to sustain damage.

Stack Your Boxes Like You Would Lay Bricks

Build an overlapping brick design with your box stacks. When stacking boxes of the same size, this typically works well. If an overlapping pattern cannot be used, rotate each successive layer of boxes that are added.

Avoid Stacking in A Pyramid

A common shipping mistake that causes the stack to become narrower as it grows taller is to place the smaller boxes at the top of the pallet. The structural integrity of your load may be jeopardised by a pyramidal shape. If at all possible, experts advise incorporating the smaller boxes into the stack to produce a more cubic shape.

Strap Up Using Packaging Strapping

It’s crucial to secure your cargo to the pallet using sturdy straps before wrapping your pallet in stretch wrap. Use at least two straps on each side of the pallet to secure your load. For further stability, you can also use slip sheets and cardboard corner boards.

Wrap Your Pallets

Stretch wrap aids in keeping stacked boxes together so that they function as a single box rather than several separate ones. Stretch pallet wrap and an angled board enable you to stack your load higher on pallets, maximising the amount of cube space available for your goods when it is being stored or shipped.

Plan Ahead

Considering all of your stacking possibilities is the most crucial step in increasing pallet stacking efficiency. Create several packing templates for all the conceivable stack combinations after making a list of all the frequent box sizes your company ships.
